Dear sophia,

it’s a new year. this one is going to be better than the last one. i’m sure of it. there are dates in january you have to pay attention to. the first one is january 17th – which is papou’s name day. other important dates are january 19th – which is orthodox epiphany and then January 26th which is papou’s birthday. You need to make sure you light candles in church for those days.

i miss you very much and i hope we will be lighting those candles together. the picture is from the inside of the church you are named after. you are named after hagia sophia which is one of the greatest churches in all of christianity. one day i will take you there. in that church above the door to enter is the hand of john the baptist who baptized christ. i will show that to you also.
